Star Light, Star Bright!

Share the light of Christ with others this Advent season

Star Light, Star Bright

First star I see tonight.

Wish I may, wish I might

have the wish I wish tonight.

What do children want when they’re separated from their mother at Christmas? Paulette Vernay of Prison Ministry says, “They want their mothers!”  For the past 16 years, the Diocese of Honolulu has been reuniting families affected by incarceration through an annual Christmas party. This year we will again be hosting a day of fun, food, games, gifts and emotional reunions at the Women’s Community Correctional Center in Kailua on Saturday, December 10. You can help grant the children’s wishes by donating any of the following items:

  • gifts and toys for the keiki
  • monetary gifts to cover airfare for neighbor island children and caregivers
  • gift baskets of non-perishable food and household necessities for a family
  • $50 gift certificates from Foodland, Safeway or Zippy’s to purchase a Christmas dinner

For more information, contact Paulette Vernay at 808-203-6722 or by email at prisonministry@rcchawaii.org. Donations may also be made online.
