2011 PSM Leadership University

Honolulu, Hawaii - September 21, 2011 –  The 2011 Parish Social Ministry Leadership University will be held from Friday Sept. 30 thru Saturday, Oct. 1 and will take place at St. Stephen Diocesan Center on Oahu. The weekend event will include guest speaker Joe Hastings of Catholic Relief Services.

“This is our 7th annual Parish Social Ministry University and it is a wonderful training opportunity for parishes in helping them to better form and maintain their leadership teams and committees. All parishes in the state are invited to attend…it also provides opportunities where ministry volunteers and leaders may share ideas and best practices. “  says Iwie Tamashiro, OSM Parish Social Ministry Program Director, “This year our courses will cover Starting and Strengthening Parish Social Ministry; Leadership Skills and Communication; More Habits of Highly Effective Leaders; and Asset Mapping and Strategic Ministry Organization. Unfortunately, due to budget cuts,  we are unable this year to offer airfare scholorships for neighbor island travel. However we are happy to inform everyone that our guest speaker, Joe Hastings of Catholic Relief Services, has agreed to offer his presentation “Starting and Strengthening Parish Social Ministry ” to Maui, Kauai, and the Big Island.”
